Happy Birthday David!

Today our son turns 1! A year has come and gone and our little one is growing fast. On Sunday we celebrated his day with the family. As you can see David was far from shy with his cake. We had a great time & so did he, thanks to all who came.

One-handed, no problem I got this present opening business down!

Sweet a plastic thing that lights up and makes lots of noise! ;)

Sour Puss

I thought this was a funny shot that I needed to share. Since Davey is getting older, we get to give him some new flavors. Here is he reaction after I gave him some strawberry/banana smoothie. :)

Stitch in time

This morning was an early rise for us, Davey was back in the hospital to have his stitches removed. Everything went well and he is resting up from another night of fasting. He did very well and is such a trooper through all of this. The Dr. said he can actually go without a bandage, so we will see how is takes it over the next few days.

Basement Progress

While Davey continues to recover, which has been going very well. I have been trying to push forward on the basement. My original goal was to have the basement complete by his birthday which is next week. Ha! Well looks like my deadline will need to be extended. Not by much tho, the furniture is scheduled to be delivered by August 8th so I need to have everything painted and the carpet laid by then.

Special thanks to Homer for helping out with the drywall hanging this past weekend. Here are some progress pics:

Recovery

Well it has been a few days now since Davey had his surgery, surprising to most he is doing very well. In fact the day after he was laughing, playing & putting pressure on that hand like almost nothing happened. At this point the "CLUB" as we like to call it is the only nuisance. He has been waking up in the middle of the night probably due to discomfort.

On Friday we went to the Lehigh Valley Zoo for a nice stroll & to visit the Kangaroo's...I mean c'mon it's Schencksville, PA where else you gonna see Red Roo's?

Thrilled huh?

David did like the Ostriches tho
Tuesday he sees the Dr. & to have his bandages changed, keep everyone posted!

Surgery

Today was probably the most stressful, scary & upsetting day of our life. Davey had his first hand surgery to correct his 3rd & 4th digits on his right hand; for those who don't know he has Syndactyly on both his hands. The surgery was scheduled for first thing this morning, which meant Davey had to fast from Midnight until the surgery. Ever try not giving a Baby a bottle?...yeah it sucks. The surgery lasted about 2 1/2 hours. It took longer than anticipated as the top bones in his fingers were fused together. They also had to take a skin graft from his groin area to add skin to the separated area. So he is sore there too :( The first hour or so afterwards he was very groggy from the anesthesia. He was also in some pretty hearty pain. Overall the nurses said he did very well, and all his reactions were normal. We ended up being discharged at 2:30pm; he slept most of the afternoon and has been eating & drinking fine. The pain comes and goes but we are able to give him some Tylenol w/Codeine to help ease it. Next Tuesday we visit the Dr. to have the dressings changed, then the following week to have the stitches removed. So hopefully he will be in great shape for his birthday. Till then we have to take it one day at a time. All I can say is he is a very tough kid and will push through this.

Date Night, More Basement & Future Dubber

This weekend was special in many fronts...Friday was Date Night! My Mom offered to watch Davey overnight so Cat & I went out for Dinner and the movies. We ate at Melt at the Promenades in Saucon Valley which was very nice, then we followed dinner up with a movie, Knocked Up. Movie was hilarious, and one of the funniest we have seen in a long time. It was a great night, much needed.

Then this weekend was lot's more of basement building, we finished up the wet bar area.

Hung doors, and finished all the studding, started electric so about 1-2 weeks away from drywall. Room is really starting to take shape.

Then tonight we stopped over at my Dads for dinner and to take a rip in the Dune Buggy.

Future Dubber!

Davey enjoyed a quick splash in the pool with Nana S.

Last note, Davey turned 11 month yesterday; can't believe he will be 1 next month!!!
